Meeting of the Ambassador of Ukraine in Norway Vyacheslav Yatsyuk with the Minister of Fisheries of Norway, Per Sandberg

February 3, 2017, the Ambassador of Norway in Ukraine Vyacheslav Yaciuk the Minister of Fisheries Norway Per Sandberg, which was dedicated to the prospects of expanding Ukrainian-Norwegian cooperation in the fishing industry and aquaculture.

Ambassador of Ukraine noted the positive experience of the existing bilateral cooperation in this field, which creates favorable conditions for the launch of its new mutually beneficial areas. In particular, it was emphasized Ukrainian market offers significant opportunities for Norwegian investors in the field of production of feed for the growing needs of the fishing industry in Norway. It was also noted the prospects for Norwegian companies transfer some production capacity in the fisheries to Ukraine.

Another important area of ​​cooperation could be the establishment of Ukrainian-Norwegian partnership on the basis of one of the regions of Ukraine to implement the most successful experiences in the Norwegian aquaculture development in line with European standards. This mutually beneficial partnership would be one of the practical areas of cooperation in the framework of the agreement on the establishment of Ukrainian-Norwegian consultative mechanism on the European integration achieved by the results of the official visit of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in Norway in October 2016.

In turn, Minister of Fisheries of Norway confirmed that Ukraine considered his country a particularly promising partner in this field. Norwegian official of principle was announced readiness to contribute to the next potential Ukrainian-Norwegian cooperation, including in the proposed new directions. P.Sandberh informed about the readiness of the Norwegian side before the transfer of Ukraine of implementation of the electronic system of catch reporting and monitoring of fishing vessels, which will be important for the interests of reforming and modernizing the fishing industry of our country.

During the meeting, a member of the Government of Norway were informed of the practical results of internal reforms in Ukraine, which creates favorable conditions for deepening Ukrainian-Norwegian investment cooperation.

At the invitation of the Ambassador of Ukraine, participated in the meeting was the executive director of the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Chartan Pedersen, who will coordinate the implementation of the new Ukrainian-Norwegian project on the development roadmap of aquaculture in Ukraine.
